Optometric Assistant / Technician- Part time / Full Time Permanent
​
Tofield Eyecare is looking for a FULL time (28-34 hours per week) optometric assistant to join our team! We are hoping this person would become lead ophthalmic technician at our office and be a long term valued team member.
​

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about helping people, detail oriented, able to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.
​
Duties will include assisting the doctor with seeing patients, scheduling patients, checking patient insurance and answering phones.
The main role of the Optometric Assistant would be to take on all duties related to assisting doctors with patients. Some duties would include using devices to help measure eye shape and eye health, measuring patients glasses, taking complete case history, visual acuity, intraocular pressure as well as lots of other fun tests! This person would also make sure all information is entered into the EMR system accurately.
​​Customer service experience (and eyecare experience) is a huge asset but we will train the right person. This job requires you to both sit and stand throughout the day as you will assist patients when they move between the various rooms during their visit to our office.
​
Hours are roughly Mondays 11-4, Tuesdays 10-5, Wednesdays 10-7, Thursdays 10-5 and Fridays 9-3. We would also need some help on one Saturday a month from 9-1 :).
​

Optician / Ophthalmic Dispenser - Full Time, Permanent
​
Tofield Eyecare is seeking a skilled and dedicated Optician or ophthalmic dispenser to join our team on a full-time basis. Tofield is a small town 35 minutes east of Edmonton on highway 14.
​
We are committed to providing exceptional eye care services to our community and surrounding area, and we need a passionate individual who wants to make a difference. Tofield Eyecare is very involved in the community and looking for another team member to be apart of our team and the community as a whole.
​
Tofield Eyecare was started in 2017 and has grown significantly since then. We provide full service eyecare and have an onsite finishing lab with a new Essilor Neksia Edger and tracer. Lab and edging experience a huge benefit!
Responsibilities:
- Dispensing eyewear and contact lenses based on prescriptions
- Assisting patients in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their needs and style preferences
- Conducting measurements and fittings to ensure proper lens positioning and alignment
- Educating patients on proper eyewear care and maintenance - Performing minor repairs and adjustments to eyewear
- Maintaining accurate patient records and managing inventory levels
- Edging glasses and ensuring they are made correctly
- Have FUN and be willing to go above and beyond for people
Requirements:
- Licensed Optician in the province of Alberta (or eligible for licensure) or more than 3 years optical dispensing experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Hours: Tofield Eyecare is open Monday to Saturday. We are looking for someone to work 4 to 5 days a week and 1 saturday a month. We are closed all Saturdays in July.
